Mam Tor, meaning ‘Mother Hill’ is also known as the ‘Shivering Mountain’ and is one of the most famous walks in the Peak District.

The hill itself is 517 metres high and gives the most stunning views over Edale, Hope Valley and sometimes the edge of Kinder Scout (and on a very clear day, you can even see Manchester).

It is particularly busy at weekends, with walkers, photographers, hang gliders and mountain bikers, and is easily accessible, if not a steep walk up to the top.
