The Lake District is by far one of the most visited areas in Cumbria and is associated with the famous Beatrix Potter for her stories of Peter Rabbit, as well as the poets William Wordsworth and John Ruskin to name but a few.

On May 1951 The Lake District was designated as a National Park and covers 885 square miles of Lakes, Valleys, Woodlands and Fells (hills).

Having only visited the Lake District a couple of times, once with my camera when I stayed in a cottage in Coniston with a walking group and friends for the weekend, I certainly have so much more to explore in the future when I return!
